Shazia Rahman was born in Pakistan and raised in Canada. After studying at the Universities of Toronto and Alberta, she taught at Western Illinois University. Her research has been published in journals such as the Journal of Postcolonial Writing, ariel: A Review of International English Literature, ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies of Literature and Environment, Environmental Communication, and Lit: Literature Interpretation Theory. She joined the faculty at the University of Dayton as an Associate Professor of Postcolonial Literatures in 2019. Her research and teaching emerge from her intersecting interests in global, gender, and environmental issues. In 2020, when she had the honor of welcoming the UD class of 2024, she was able to encourage a wider audience of students to take these issues to heart.
