Tahira Naqvi is a translator, writer and Senior Urdu Language Lecturer in the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at New York University. She has translated into English the works of Saadat Hasan Manto, Khadija Mastur, Hajira Masrur and Ismat Chughtai.  Most recently she has published a collection of translations of poems by Fahmida Riaz.
