Ameena Mohyuddin Zia is an author, professor, political economist, and former political appointee whose experience in the policy and development space is both interdisciplinary and multidimensional. For nearly a decade, she has serve and continues to serve as a United Nations NGO Representative at ECOSOC. In this role, she engages extensively with civil society through the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and various high-level forums and commissions on economic and social development. Her expertise spans political economy, sustainable development, U.S South Asia relations, and trade and governance. Her research explores how global power structures, trade flows, identity, and art intersect to shape regional policy and long-term development strategies. As an educator and public scholar, she is deeply committed to advancing critical thinking and inclusive, development-focused policymaking. Ameena is also a contributing columnist on issues related to political economy, equity, and global development. Her philanthropic and social impact work includes promoting literacy and developing experiential education models that foster civic engagement and social awareness.
