Ammar Yasir is a Lecturer in Sociology at Forman Christian College (A Chartered University). His research is oriented towards social movements and the diverse ways in which people resist, adapt to and renegotiate the conditions of their social lives. He draws on questions of collective mobilisation and individual agency, refusing the sharp boundary often drawn between organized protest and the less visible, more routine forms of contestation that characterise everyday existence. He has a keen interest in social theory and his theoretical sensibility is informed by the debates around modernity, postcolonial and decolonial thought and degrowth scholarship. . He has been associated with Folio Books as a translator and an editor.
