Tariq Rahman is a distinguished scholar who has written on linguistic history, onomastics, Islamic studies and war studies. He is the only researcher from Pakistan to have got the Humboldt Research Award (2012). He was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. He has also been awarded several awards for research by the President of Pakistan. Rahman is a Salzburg Seminar Fellow and a Member of the Common Room, Wolfson College, University of Oxford. Presently, he is a Distinguished National Professor and Professor Emeritus, Quaid-i-Azam University, and Dean of the School of Education, Beaconhouse National University, Lahore, Pakistan.
